Yoselin Castillo, BA

Research Analyst

Yoselin is a first-generation Latina from a rural farm-working community in California's Central Valley. Growing up, she experienced and witnessed the health disparities affecting underrepresented, low-income communities, which sparked her passion for addressing these barriers and improving community health in underserved areas.

Yoselin first joined the Latinx Center of Excellence as a Health Career Connections intern in the summer of 2020. During her internship, she supported the Aspiring Physicians Program (APP) at Fresno State and SFSU. After earning her BA in Sociology from UC Berkeley, Yoselin worked as a part-time Research Data Analyst with the UCSF Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. In that role, she provided programmatic support and project management for COVID-19 initiatives, including the COVID-19 Vaccine Speakers Group and the Community Vaccine Ambassador Program, in collaboration with the SF Department of Public Health and The Unity Council. In the summer of 2021, Yoselin rejoined the LCOE full-time as a Research Analyst. In this role, she provides programmatic support for key LCOE HRSA-funded programs, such as PROF-PATH, SALUD, and the Aspiring Physicians Program. Yoselin also provides administrative support across the various projects and events hosted by the LCOE.

Yoselin is eager to continue growing and learning from her role with the LCOE to gain valuable experience to further her career. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time with her family, including her four-legged companions.
