Fruitvale Sanando Juntos Community COVID-19 Testing

Executive Summary
- A broad coalition of community partners tested nearly 1200 participants in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland, CA on the weekend of 9/26/2020 using a test and respond model
- While only 62% of those tested were Latinx, 95% of those testing positive identified as Latinx
- Results indicate that the Fruitvale community faces widespread economic distress and health inequities
- Over 20% of Fruitvale participants lack a regular place of medical care and/or were uninsured
- Nearly 40% of all participants experience food insecurity
- Within the Latinx community, the Mayan population is the most vulnerable
- The Mayan Latinx community had higher PCR and antibody prevalences than non-Mayan Latinx
- Mayan Latinx community experiences over 20% higher levels of food insecurity than non-Mayan Latinx
