What I do:
Brianna Mejia-Carreno recently graduated with a Master’s in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University, where she also got a BA in Race and Resistance Studies and a BS in Public Health. Brianna has always loved health and social justice since she was little. As a seasoned community organizer, she saw the health inequities firsthand through navigating the healthcare system. For her master’s thesis, Brianna focused on bringing community organizing and ethnic studies frameworks into health using tobacco and San Francisco as a case study for racial capitalism and public health interventions. She hopes to continue to create bridges between ethnic studies and public health while also helping other first-generation students like her find their voice. Outside of academia and work, Brianna enjoys trying new food, traveling, spending time with her family, watching sports, and exploring her hometown of San Francisco, CA.
