Luis Alberto Rubio, MD, MHS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCSF. His clinical practice includes HIV primary care at ZSFG Ward 86, UCSF Infectious Disease Clinic, and attends on the Inpatient General ID services at UCSF and ZSFG. His interests include serving populations disproportionately impacted by infectious diseases such as HIV, COVID-19, and TB.

Manuel Tapia, MD, MPH is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Family & Community Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine. His area of expertise is in Community Engagement and in the Development, Sustainability, and Evaluation of Pipeline, Outreach and Pathway programs for underrepresented groups in medicine. Dr. Tapia is a member of the LCOE Administrative Core Faculty and he serves as the Medical Director/Faculty Advisor for the student-run Clínica Martín-Baró.

Arianne Teherani, PhD, MSEd

Professor of Medicine and Education Scientist

Arianne Teherani, PhD is Evaluation Lead of the LCOE Evaluation Core. She is Professor of Medicine and Education Scientist in the Center for Faculty Educators. She is Director for Program Evaluation and Education Continuous Quality Improvement for the School of Medicine and is Founding Co-Director of the Center for Climate, Health, and Equity. She is a leading international researcher in the areas of educational equity and justice, professionalism, and education for climate change, justice, and health. Dr. Teherani leads the Equity and Justice in Education works in progress series. 

Peter Ureste, MD

Assistant Clinical Professor

Peter Ureste, MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. He provides inpatient psychiatric care to individuals with serious mental illness at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He also serves as a faculty member for the PROF-PATH program. 

Roberto Vargas, MPH

Associate Director, Community Engagement and Health Policy, UCSF Clinical & Translational Science Institute

Roberto Ariel Vargas, MPH, is Associate Director for the Center for Community Engagement and Senior Staff, Community Engagement Program of UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute.  Vargas helped shape health policy and practice at the municipal and national levels on chronic disease prevention and cancer care.  He has served on the National Cancer Institute’s National Council of Research Advocates, and as chair of the board of the Central American Resource Center & the SF Sugary Drinks Distributor Tax Advisory Committee.

Executive Director, UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health

Judy Young is the Executive Director of the National Center of Excellence (CoE) in Women’s Health. As an educator and mentor, activist and advocate, and life-long learner, Judy embraces the mission of the CoE and brings a multi-dimensional lens to addressing health inequities, disparities and social change. Judy joined UCSF in 2006 to be the Program Director for Fostering Excellence in Women’s Health, a multi-year, multi-million dollar national program that enhanced academic-community partnerships in women’s health across the national network of Centers of Excellence in Women’s Health.
