Elena Fuentes-Afflick, MD, MPH, is a Professor, Chief of Pediatrics at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Medicine at UCSF. She obtained her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Michigan and an MPH in Epidemiology at UC Berkeley. Her scholarly work has focused on Latino health, acculturation, immigrant health, health disparities, faculty misconduct, and faculty development.
Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Clinical Innovation
Dr. Ralph Gonzales is Associate Dean for Clinical Innovation and Chief Innovation Officer for UCSF Health. His research has played a significant role in national and global efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance by improving antibiotic prescribing practices - the body of which provides a successful roadmap for translating evidence into practice, policy and public health. Dr Gonzales’ research is multidisciplinary, patient-centered, and informed by relevant stakeholders and policy makers such as the CDC, NCQA, professional societies and community clinicians and patients.
Mario Gonzalez Ramirez is originally from Richmond, CA, and recently graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Computational Biology. Throughout undergrad, Mario conducted wet lab research on antimalarial drugs through the Maternal Child Health Research Institute while serving as both a Spanish interpreter and preclinical assistant for Stanford's student-run health clinic, which provides free medical care, health education, and referrals to underserved populations.

Stephanie holds a Master's degree in Public Health with a focus on Health Policy and Administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and a Bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology from Loyola University. For her master's capstone, she conducted a Policy Surveillance study, analyzing the laws related to Community Health Worker (CHW) programs across the country. Previously, Stephanie worked as a project coordinator at the Institute for Global Health Sciences, where she supported the IGHS Affiliates program and the Center for Global Nursing.
Kevin Grumbach, MD, is the Hellman Endowed Professor of Family and Community Medicine and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF. He founded the UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care and is Co-Director of the Community Engagement and Health Policy Program for the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His research on primary care workforce, innovations in the delivery of primary care, racial and ethnic diversity in the health professions, and community health improvement have widely influenced policy and practice.
Michelle Guy, MD is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine. She is Director of Diversity of Graduate Medical Education and a Dean's Diversity Leader. Dr. Guy is a member of the LCOE Administrative Core Faculty and is the co-director of the resident mentoring program, SALUD.

Beth Harleman, MD is Professor of Medicine and Vice Chief of Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. A clinician-educator, Beth has extensive experience developing and delivering curricula to a wide range of learners. Her focus in medical education is on the development of the physician identity, particularly at transition points in training. She is a co-lead for the FUEGO faculty program.
Assistant Clinical Professor, Associate Residency Program Director, Family and Community Medicine
Randy Jackson Jr., MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Family and Community Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine. He currently serves as the Associate Residency Program Director for the UCSF Family and Community Medicine Residency that runs out of San Francisco General Hospital. He has special interests in resident and medical student education along with the development and sustainability of pathways programs focused on supporting students who are underrepresented in medicine. Meshell Johnson, MD is a Professor of Medicine in the UCSF School of Medicine. She is a member of the LCOE Administrative Core Faculty, a mentor with the resident mentoring program, SALUD, and a co-lead with the faculty program, FUEGO.
I am a professor in the Department of Pediatrics who is passionate about leveraging the expertise we have at UCSF and in our community to make child health and wellness a reality for all children the Bay Area. To achieve this vision, I helped to establish the cross-bay UCSF Center for Child and Community Health. I currently serve as the Department's Director of Health Equity and Community Engagement and am a senior advisor for the UCLA-UCSF ACEs Aware Family Resilience Network (UCAAN).
